Tomato Hog Heart Seedling
One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 hog heart tomato seedling (open-pollinated and indeterminate). Brought from Italy to Massachusetts, probably between 1910 and 1920, and then by Susan Eastman and Ed Lacy of Gray, Maine, to the Exhibition Hall at the 1988 Common Ground Fair, Hog Heart has won many admirers. So-named because it sometimes produces large red heart-shaped double fruits. More often, though, its 6–8 oz tomatoes are shaped like banana peppers. A meaty paste tomato noted for its sparse seed cavity, good solids and excellent flavor fresh, canned or frozen.

Tomato Paul Robeson Seedling

Like other so-called black tomatoes the fruit is more of a dusky dark red with dusky dark green shoulders. 6-oz. fruits, 2 x 4-5 in., borne two to a cluster. Excellent flavor. Russian heirloom. Named after Paul Robeson, performer of “Old Man River” and operatic vocal artist who was an advocate of equal rights for Blacks. His artistry was appreciated world-wide, especially in the Soviet Union, and hence this tomato bearing his name.

These luffa sponges are grown on our farm from luffa gourds. Luffa sponges can be used in the bath or at the kitchen sink. They are durable, while being 100% biodegradable. If left to mature, skin will ripen to tan like a butternut squash.

Gourd Luffa Seedling

Saturday, May 17th our take home meal will be Beer-brined Pork Ribs with Roasted Sweet Potatoes. We take pork ribs and place them into a brine of water, beer, lime juice, salt and black pepper. The ribs are then cooked on the grill and served with a side of roasted sweet potatoes and garnished with pico de gallo. Just heat it up and dinner is done! 🤗 Our ready-to-heat meals are made to serve one person but if prepared with a starch or an additional side they could feed two people. These ready-to-heat meals are cooked fresh the day before the market, packed, and frozen. We have designed them for you to have simple but marvelous meals at home. Just pick them up at the market, pop them in your freezer or refrigerator when you get home, then simply heat them up in the microwave or oven when you want.
