Cowpea Tohono O’odham
One 3 inch fiber pot containing 3 Tohono O’odham cowpea seedlings. Highly drought- and heat-tolerant variety often used for summer cover crops. 6-7 in. purple-tinged pods. Earthy- flavored seeds have black and white markings like Holstein cows. For fresh use, harvest when seeds have filled the green pods, but before seeds have hardened. For dried use, make sure to harvest dried pods before rain or else seeds will mold. Let dried pods finish drying under cover in a rodent-proof space. This vegetable seems to have a different name in each section of the country. Cowpeas are also called southern peas, field peas, crowder peas, and black-eyed peas. Edamame Shirofumi Seedling

This rare heirloom developed by Luther Hill of Andover Township, NJ, in 1902, is one of the parents of Silver Queen. The most popular sweet corn in parts of New Jersey for more than 50 years. Sweetest open-pollinated corn most folks have ever tasted, Luther makes multiple 12-row, 3–6" long miniature ears on modest 4' stalks. Because the suckers often yield good ears, each plant, if spaced widely, can make up to four ears. A great way to introduce yourself to sweet corn the way it was before the hybrids took over.

Pepper, hot Fish Seedling
One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic fish hot pepper seedling. A most attractive pepper plant with distinctive green and white mottled foliage and 2" curving pendent fruits that look a little like swimming fish. They turn from white with green stripes to orange with brown stripes to red, packing considerable heat and full-bodied flavor that especially enhances shellfish. A mutation of a common serrano pepper that probably originated in the 1870s, by 1900 Fish was extensively grown by the African-American community around Philadelphia and Baltimore.

Pepper, hot Lemon Drop Seedling

Peruvian pepper with flavorful bright heat. the bright lemon yellow color and waxy citrus-like texture of this pepper, originally known as Aji Lima, inspired name changes from Lima, to Liman, to Lemon Drop. With exceptional flavor and cayenne-range heat, this pepper spices a dish without overwhelming it and makes a striking yellow hot sauce. Its habit is incredibly vigorous, forming big, tall, strongly upright plants that are naturally lush. Each plant tends to bear heavily (one plant is plenty for the home gardener!), its branches laden with dozens of small, waxy-skinned fruit that turn from light green in mid-season to golden yellow at ripeness. The flavor of each is exceptional: truly citrusy and suitable for spicing a dish without overwhelming it. If you like a bit of heat, one pepper is enough for a pot of chili; use more if you are a fiend.

Cotton Erlene's Green Seedling
One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic erlene's green cotton seedling. The fibers are light olive green and can be spun off the seed. Harvest the bolls shortly after they open so that the fiber does not fade in the sunlight. Once it is spun and washed it turns yellowish-green. 5 ft. tall plants. This is a heirloom from Erlene Melancon's family in east Texas. Erlene said that she has been spinning green cotton for years and that her grandmother loved using colored cotton in her quilts. (Cotton plant belongs to the Malvaceae family, commonly known as the mallow family. It shares this plant family with other well-known flowering plants and crops, including hibiscus, okra, and hollyhocks.)

Saturday, June 27th the take home meal will be succulent chicken breast marinated with achiote (this is the same blend of rich spices we use on our grilled chicken tacos) with a side of roasted sweet potatoes and a garnish of pico de gallo. Our ready-to-heat meals are made to serve one person but if prepared with a salad or an additional side they could feed two people. Pumpkin Long Island Cheese
Delicious long island cheese pumpkins by the pound. Linked to cheese through appearance only, the Long Island Cheese Pumpkin has been revered for centuries thanks to its smooth flesh and string-less interior (not to mention the high nutrient content).
