One 3 inch fiber pot containing 3 Tohono O’odham cowpea seedlings. Highly drought- and heat-tolerant variety often used for summer cover crops. 6-7 in. purple-tinged pods. Earthy- flavored seeds have black and white markings like Holstein cows. For fresh use, harvest when seeds have filled the green pods, but before seeds have hardened. For dried use, make sure to harvest dried pods before rain or else seeds will mold. Let dried pods finish drying under cover in a rodent-proof space. This vegetable seems to have a different name in each section of the country. Cowpeas are also called southern peas, field peas, crowder peas, and black-eyed peas. By whatever name you call them, they’re an old favorite in the South

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 3 certified organic shirofumi edamame (soybean) seedlings. Vigorous thigh-high vines make early concentrated sets of light green pods, averaging two beans per pod. The 10-day picking window is generally from late August through early September. An excellent substitute for limas in short-season areas.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 3 tankuro edamame (soybean) seedlings. In Japan, black-seeded edamame varieties are deemed to have a richer and sweeter flavor than the green or tan-seeded kinds. Tankuro produces robust 3' plants loaded with pods packed with an average of 2.4 beans each. Pick promptly when the immature seeds are bulging yet the pods are still dark green, before the plants begin to yellow. Those pods that you miss will dry down, maturing beautiful black pearls that can provide your next year’s planting stock.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 3 certified organic grandma nellie’s mushroom pole bean seedlings. This early fresh-eating pole bean is known for its distinctive umami flavor when cooked. Creamy yellow tender pods are best picked at around 5" long. Prolific vines grow to 7–9'. These heirloom seeds where originally from a Russian woman, grew the beans in Kamsack, Saskatchewan.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 5 certified organic luther hill white corn seedlings (open pollinated). This rare heirloom developed by Luther Hill of Andover Township, NJ, in 1902, is one of the parents of Silver Queen. The most popular sweet corn in parts of New Jersey for more than 50 years. Sweetest open-pollinated corn most folks have ever tasted, Luther makes multiple 12-row, 3–6" long miniature ears on modest 4' stalks. Because the suckers often yield good ears, each plant, if spaced widely, can make up to four ears. A great way to introduce yourself to sweet corn the way it was before the hybrids took over.

Seedlings can stand drought, compete against weeds and don’t require high soil fertility. They have been 1–2 days slower to bolt than other arugulas in spring-sown plots.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic luffa gourd seedling. May be more closely related to the cucumber than to the hardshell Lagenaria. Also known as Dishrag Gourd, dried and used for making bath sponges. Mature, dark green 14-24 in. fruits may be retted (soaked in water to soften while the soft tissue breaks down). Once retting is complete, they are cleaned and ready to use as sponges or filters. Vines have pretty, bright yellow flowers.

Large (4-9 lb.) oval, slightly ridged, coarsely netted melons. The skin turns golden yellow when ripe. Very productive.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic arachne melon seedling. Firm orange flesh is mild but sweet with the right amount of musk. Prolific, with 3–4 fruits per plant.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic diamond eggplant seedling. Slender, attractive dark purple fruit hang in clusters for easy picking. Fruit has mild flavor with no bitterness and a fine, creamy texture.

A most attractive pepper plant with distinctive green and white mottled foliage and 2" curving pendent fruits that look a little like swimming fish. They turn from white with green stripes to orange with brown stripes to red, packing considerable heat and full-bodied flavor that especially enhances shellfish. A mutation of a common serrano pepper that probably originated in the 1870s, by 1900 Fish was extensively grown by the African-American community around Philadelphia and Baltimore.

A prolific producer of 4-5" long cayenne peppers that ripen to an intriguing shade of golden yellow. This variety was gifted to Minnesota farmer Steven Schwen by Vietnamese refugees in the 1980s. Schwen named this pepper after the famous Vietnamese revolutionary leader. Hot - 30,000 Scoville units!

Peruvian pepper with flavorful bright heat. the bright lemon yellow color and waxy citrus-like texture of this pepper, originally known as Aji Lima, inspired name changes from Lima, to Liman, to Lemon Drop. With exceptional flavor and cayenne-range heat, this pepper spices a dish without overwhelming it and makes a striking yellow hot sauce. Its habit is incredibly vigorous, forming big, tall, strongly upright plants that are naturally lush. Each plant tends to bear heavily (one plant is plenty for the home gardener!), its branches laden with dozens of small, waxy-skinned fruit that turn from light green in mid-season to golden yellow at ripeness. The flavor of each is exceptional: truly citrusy and suitable for spicing a dish without overwhelming it. If you like a bit of heat, one pepper is enough for a pot of chili; use more if you are a fiend.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic lemon spice jalapeños hot pepper seedling. Fruit is bright, saturated gold in color, moderately spicy, flavorful, with a citrusy tang. They are a beauty on the plant and a delight on the tongue. Use the ripe fruit as you would green jalapenos: as low-heat, flavorful additions to salsas, as a base ingredient in stir fries, or thinly sliced atop a bowl of hot Pho. Lemon Spice fruits rate mild to medium hot at 25,000 Scoville units.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic little bells sweet pepper seedling. These compact plants produce high yields of early, thick-walled, juicy sweet peppers. This variety is pale green at the unripe stage and has a complex flavor that most green bells lack. Fruits ripen red but are as flavorful as a green pepper. Excellent pepper for container gardening.

One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic erlene's green cotton seedling. The fibers are light olive green and can be spun off the seed. Harvest the bolls shortly after they open so that the fiber does not fade in the sunlight. Once it is spun and washed it turns yellowish-green. 5 ft. tall plants. This is a heirloom from Erlene Melancon's family in east Texas. Erlene said that she has been spinning green cotton for years and that her grandmother loved using colored cotton in her quilts. (Cotton plant belongs to the Malvaceae family, commonly known as the mallow family. It shares this plant family with other well-known flowering plants and crops, including hibiscus, okra, and hollyhocks.)

Though native to Central America, this heirloom was widely grown in Poland and is now on board the Slow Food Ark of Taste. Sweet and zesty yellow fruit. Some compare the flavor of these ½–¾" fruits to pineapple, some to tangerines.

One bunch containing 3 certified organic delaware purple sweet potato slips. These Delaware heirlooms have a purple-red skin, with intense white flesh that is smooth and slightly sweet. Slips are vine cuttings from sprouted sweet potatoes for transplanting to your garden in the spring.

One bunch containing 3 certified organic hayman sweet potato slips. Eastern Shore heirloom with cream colored skin, cream flesh. Dubbed “Hayman” for the sea captain who purportedly first brought them here from a Caribbean port in the 1850s, they were quickly planted up and down the Delmarva Peninsula. Slips are vine cuttings from sprouted sweet potatoes for transplanting to your garden in the spring.

Freshly made fish ceviche you can serve with tortilla chips, crackers or alone as a refreshing salad. Our fish ceviche is made of local blue catfish marinated in lime juice with ripe tomatoes, chopped onions, fresh cilantro, kosher salt, and black pepper; thats it! No preservatives are used, so it must be kept refrigerated.

Achiote-marinated chicken breast with roasted sweet potatoes and pico de gallo. Just heat it up and dinner is done! Saturday, June 27th the take home meal will be succulent chicken breast marinated with achiote (this is the same blend of rich spices we use on our grilled chicken tacos) with a side of roasted sweet potatoes and a garnish of pico de gallo. Our ready-to-heat meals are made to serve one person but if prepared with a salad or an additional side they could feed two people. These ready-to-heat meals are cooked fresh the day before the market, packed, and frozen. We have designed them for you to have simple but marvelous meals at home. Just pick them up at the market, pop them in your freezer or refrigerator when you get home, then simply heat them up in the microwave or oven when you want. Right now we'll just have one offering each week.

Our fresh guacamole is made from ripe avocados, fresh cilantro, hand squeezed lime juice, kosher salt and black pepper; thats it no fillers. This is what avocados dreams are made of, our guacamole goes perfectly with chips, tacos, or whatever your heart desires. No preservatives are used, so it must be kept refrigerated.

Freshly made pico de gallo (also known as salsa fresca) makes the perfect snack with tortilla chips, as a topping on your favorite tacos, or a great side dish. These luffa sponges are grown on our farm from luffa gourds. Luffa sponges can be used in the bath or at the kitchen sink. They are durable, while being 100% biodegradable. Our luffas range in size from 5" to 11" long. Due to its natural nature, luffas may have dark spots or discoloration; they might also contain a few leftover seeds. Tax Included

Delicious long island cheese pumpkins by the pound. Linked to cheese through appearance only, the Long Island Cheese Pumpkin has been revered for centuries thanks to its smooth flesh and string-less interior (not to mention the high nutrient content). It's one of the oldest squashes domesticated for food, which speaks well for its taste. The skin is tan colored, smooth with slight vertical ribbing. The flesh is orange, dense, yet tender and creamy with a sweet mild flavor. Each pumpkin is approximately 3 to 10 pounds. Delicious seminole pumpkins by the pound. These are sweeter than butternut and have firm, deep-orange flesh. This is an heirloom variety that was a staple among the Seminole Native Americans in the Everglades. It has a smooth texture and sweet flavor that is great for pies, soups and many baked goods.
