Cowpea Tohono O’odham
One 3 inch fiber pot containing 3 Tohono O’odham cowpea seedlings. Highly drought- and heat-tolerant variety often used for summer cover crops. 6-7 in. purple-tinged pods. Earthy- flavored seeds have black and white markings like Holstein cows. For fresh use, harvest when seeds have filled the green pods, but before seeds have hardened. For dried use, make sure to harvest dried pods before rain or else seeds will mold. Let dried pods finish drying under cover in a rodent-proof space. Tomato Hog Heart Seedling

Brought from Italy to Massachusetts, probably between 1910 and 1920, and then by Susan Eastman and Ed Lacy of Gray, Maine, to the Exhibition Hall at the 1988 Common Ground Fair, Hog Heart has won many admirers. So-named because it sometimes produces large red heart-shaped double fruits. More often, though, its 6–8 oz tomatoes are shaped like banana peppers. A meaty paste tomato noted for its sparse seed cavity, good solids and excellent flavor fresh, canned or frozen.

Gourd Luffa Seedling
One 3 inch fiber pot containing 1 certified organic luffa gourd seedling. May be more closely related to the cucumber than to the hardshell Lagenaria. Also known as Dishrag Gourd, dried and used for making bath sponges. Mature, dark green 14-24 in. fruits may be retted (soaked in water to soften while the soft tissue breaks down). Once retting is complete, they are cleaned and ready to use as sponges or filters. Vines have pretty, bright yellow flowers.
